Some people say that three year olds can be too loud, but I say, they’re just checking out their voices, taking them for the many needed test runs, because, after all, you want to be able to roar with the tigers when the occasion arises, right?
or something like that. If I was more clever, I’d write a song about it. Memorial Day weekend is coming up, and for me, that often means going to my sister’s cottage on Canton lake, about 40 miles southwest of Peoria. Many years ago, it started out as a little one room jobbie situated at the top of a long gully that led down to the lake. Now, after two room additions and lots of creative landscaping and tons of sweat and labor, it’s quite the little place, amazing really. I really admire my sister’s ability to envision things.
ps – that’s my brother standing on the porch up there. I really should have asked his permission before exposing him like this, but for age 70, he’s pretty hot, don’t you think?! 😉
What do you see from your windows? When I first moved to Iowa, I lived in an apartment where I could sit on my bed at night and have a front row seat to all the summer storms. Of course, there were the four flights of stairs that went along with this privilege! At my last apartment, there was the wonderful veranda, but only one window with a great view of the…veranda. Now, however….I feel like I am in window heaven, comparatively speaking, with a sliding glass door to the balcony, a great western facing window in the den and TWO, count them…one….two…windows in the bedroom, one of which looks out on a little patch of woods. I see branches waving in the wind, birds flying by, occasionally some stars (unfortunately there are lots of security lights around), and once in a great while, a squirrel looking back at me.
